As a Naples, Florida mom, I’m all about this hyper local summer bucket list. This is a list of my own kids’ favorite things to do in Naples over the summer. While we may not have the Naples Pier right now (darn Hurricane Ian), we still have tons of fun things to do in Naples over the summer. And the best part, in my opinion, is that the town goes back to its sleepy roots, allowing the locals to enjoy the town without all the hustle and bustle of the snowbirds.

Family Friendly Activities in Naples, FL
1. Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary: A Walk on the Wild Side
The Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary offers a unique experience for nature lovers, especially bird watchers. Walk along the boardwalk through lush greenery and spot diverse wildlife, including the rare Florida panther. It’s a great spot for an educational outing that the entire family can enjoy.
2. Naples Zoo: A Wild Encounter
Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens is a must-visit for nature lovers and families. Home to exotic animals and lush botanical gardens, it provides an educational experience with hands-on exhibits and boat tours around the monkey islands. It’s one of the best things to do with kids of all ages.
Pro Tip: Members save money on food and at the gift shop! Membership starts at only $139 a year for a family, making it worthwhile to get a membership if you live in Collier County.
3. City and County Day Camps: Fun and Learning
Enroll your kids in city and county day camps. Our area is so amazing that we have two wonderful programs to choose from: City of Naples summer camps, and Collier County summer camps, both offering priority to residents before opening to the public.
These camps offer a variety of activities, from arts and crafts to beach camp, sailing camp, and skateboarding, ensuring that children with a variety of interests have a great time and learn new things during the summer months. The best part is that most of these camps are pretty affordable! We opt for 1-2 weeks of camp each summer, then explore the area the rest of the time that we are home.
4. Summer Reading Programs: Engage Young Minds
Participate in a summer reading program in Naples! You can participate at the public library, Books on Third, and Barnes & Noble.
The Collier County Public Library summer reading program encourages children — and adults — to read and engage in educational activities, providing a fun way to keep young minds active and entertained during the long summer months.
My favorite library in Collier County is the Headquarters Library with the fountain in the courtyard. Even in the hottest part of the summer, my kids will grab a book and sit by the fountain for a while. It’s such a peaceful little spot here in Naples.
You can also join the summer reading fun at Books on Third! Their summer reading program includes a fun bingo card challenge — fill in all the squares and earn a free book. You can print a bingo card from the bookstore’s website or stop by the store to pick one up in person. The store will also have plenty of summer programming and events for locals, so it’s worth checking the event calendar throughout the season.
And don’t forget about Barnes & Noble, which also offers a popular summer reading program where kids can earn a free book for completing their reading log.
5. Collier County Museums: Dive into History
Visit the Collier County Museums for an educational experience. These museums offer interactive exhibits and hands-on activities that teach children about the rich history and cultural heritage of the Naples area.
The best part is that there are museums all over the county, not just here in Naples. You can visit the following locations for a fun half day trip from Naples:
- Collier Museum at Government Center- 3331 Tamiami Trail East, Naples, FL 34112
- Museum of the Everglades– 105 West Broadway Avenue, Everglades City, FL 34139

We love that there is something for children of all ages. Even older kids can find something to do while younger siblings run around and explore.
Pro Tip: C’MON offers summer camps too! Members get first priority, so don’t slack. Get a membership so you get first dips on some of the most fun camps for young kids in Naples, FL.
7. Kayak Tour with Naples Outfitters or Estero River Outfitters: Explore the Waterways
Kayak tours are such a fun way to explore the waterways of Naples. Take a kayak tour with Naples Outfitters or Estero River Outfitters to explore the beautiful mangrove forests and coastal waters of Southwest Florida. It’s a unique experience that allows families to connect with nature and enjoy the serene environment.
Pro Tip: Book a bioluminescent kayaking tour with Naples Outfitters for an unforgettable experience. People travel all over the world to experience bioluminescence, and we have it right here in our own backyard!
8. Mail a Letter from the Smallest Post Office in USA: A Quirky Stop
Visit the smallest post office in the USA located in Ochopee, FL, and mail a letter. This quirky stop along the Tamiami Trail between Naples and Miami makes for a fun and memorable outing, especially for children fascinated by unique and unusual places.
We always stop on our way to Miccosukee Indian Village (#17 on my list). If you stop by during regular postal hours you can meet the postal worker and even buy a souvenir post card and mail it from the post office!
9. Take a Day Trip to the Everglades: An Adventure in the Wild
A visit to Everglades National Park is a must for families seeking adventure. The park offers guided tours, kayaking tours, and wildlife viewing in the unique mangrove forests. It’s a fantastic way to experience the natural beauty of the Florida Everglades.

10. Go Camping at Seminole Collier State Park: Overnight Fun

Pro Tip:Residents of Collier, Lee, and Charlotte counties receive discounted admission from June 1 – September 30 with proof of residence. Collier County Library Card holders go for FREE from June 8-14.
All families need to know about the W.O.N.D.E.R. Program. The W.O.N.D.E.R. Program is available Wednesdays – Sundays from 10:30am – 12pm! Check the calendar for details. W.O.N.D.E.R. sessions occur on the Performance Lawn unless otherwise noted.
Don’t want to attend a formal program? Before you venture onto the pathway, pick up a W.O.N.D.E.R. Activity Pack at the Chabraja Visitor Center with materials specially created by Garden educators.

We always hit up the Monkey Bread Factory, Naples Soap Company, and the Naples Winery. A trip to Tin City always makes us feel like we are on a true Naples vacation.

For a fun activity that the entire family can enjoy, go mini golfing together. You really can’t go wrong with mini golf on your summer bucket list. All the mini-golf courses in Naples offer a playful and engaging experience with fun tropical-themed settings and challenging holes.

Take a day trip to the Miccosukee Indian Village to learn about the culture and history of the Miccosukee Tribe and the Seminole Indians. The village offers educational tours, traditional crafts, and alligator demonstrations, providing a fascinating cultural experience.
Pro Tip: They are only open Wednesday through Sunday so plan accordingly. Also, you have to eat the fry bread! My kids will happily venture back each year for the fry bread alone.
19. Go to the Baker Museum: Cultural Enrichment
For a bit of culture, visit The Baker Museum in North Naples. This museum is known for its impressive art collections and rotating exhibits, providing a rich history and cultural experience for visitors of all ages. You can enjoy the visual arts or stop by one of the free chamber music performances located around town as a part of the summer programming.
Students are only $5 and children are FREE, making this an amazing summer experience for kids.

Sure, you could get ice cream in a lot of other places in Naples, but we love the excuse to go to 5th Avenue and take a stroll down the iconic street during the off season.

24. Spend a Day at Sun-N-Fun Lagoon: Water Slides Galore
Sun-N-Fun Lagoon is finally open after being closed for over a year!
For a splash of excitement and water fun, head to Sun-N-Fun Lagoon, a water park featuring water slides, a lazy river, and splash zones. It’s a perfect spot for families to cool off and have fun during the hot summer days, with attractions for kids of all ages.
